For the Dogs

Sarge & Wally, an At Home Canine Photoshoot

“I have two dogs with anxiety and health concerns that aren’t able to come to Muskegon, MI. for a photoshoot with you. Can we photograph them at our home instead?”

Absolutely! I drive across Michigan all the time for photoshoots, and if it benefits an animal, I am 100% on board!

For this session, I drove to Rochester Hills, Michigan, to photograph two senior rescue pups, Sarge and Wally. Both of these pups struggled with anxiety, so I steadied my energy level, and happily allowed both dogs to control where and how we photographed them.

We began in the backyard, where they were most comfortable, allowing them to sit and socialize with me or run zoomies and show off on the playground set. This allows both dogs to settle and become accustom to a stranger laying on the ground, hiding behind a clicking object, while occasionally making squeaking noses and waving their feet in the air. It was a lot to take in! Lol!

From there, we moved around to the side of the house to photograph them with paws up on the rocks, laying down next to a retainer wall, and posing in front of the perfectly stacked firewood. Their confidence continued to grow, so we moved the party to the front yard to photograph along their front walkway and capture portraits in the grass.

By the end of their sessions, these two pups were modeling pros! Eager to please and play along, and venturing as far as checking my pockets for snacks. A compliment I hold near and dear to my heart, as it means these shy, and unsure dogs, felt at ease enough to boop me, asking for additional snacks and playtime.

Here are a handful of photographs from our session, that show the fun we had and the happy, playful, and soulful personalities of Sarge and Wally.

Sadly, Wally has since passed over the rainbow bridge. I am so very thankful to have had the opportunity to photograph him for his owner. May he rest in peace knowing he was loved beyond measure, and may his owners forever be thankful for the gifted years with an unexpected friend found in the parking lots of Walmart.

If you have a senior dog, or one with health concerns, do not hesitate to reach out to book your photoshoot. I know how priceless photographs can be of those we love, and even if I am booked, I will do my absolute best to accommodate emergency needs for a final photoshoot. ♥️
