The year 2020 will always be remembered. One I will never want to relive, but forever be proud of.
This year began like any other, praying for snow but left with storms lackluster and Jack Frost slacking, creating a lot of dangerous ice and mud everywhere. Then the panic of Covid hit and any hope of photography work was gone when the country went into a chaotic slumber.
For the next several months, I sought out online education, zoom mentorships, and listened in to any business podcasts I could locate. I had to do something! It ended up being the perfect boost for what turned out to be an insanely busy year for me!
May 1st a few of my most supportive barns reopened, and May 2nd, I was - as my husband would say - “as happy as a fat kid in a candy story!” I sat ring side for several weeks, photographing outdoor lessons and small schooling shows, until the summer warmth arrived, bringing in a welcomed tidal wave of bookings. July to December, I was booked solid with photoshoots from Traverse City to Eau Claire to Detroit, MI., and a jam packed 2.5 weeks of sessions during my annual Maine trip.
When I think back on the year, my personal growth and the exciting growing pains of the business, it leaves me with feelings of exhaustion and immense pride in my accomplishments. Numbers don’t lie, and even with a crappy winter, several months in lockdown, wedding cancelations out the wazoo, and business restrictions due to the pandemic, I was still able to complete OVER 250 sessions and raise my final business numbers over last year’s by 35%!
I pride myself in knowing that this growth comes only from overjoyed clients referring their friends and family! … AND a crap ton of hard work to ensure a polished and smooth process for my clients, a high-class and enjoyable experience while being photographed, and resulting quality heirloom Fine Art products for each and every client who chooses to support my small business.
I thank YOU for making this all possible. Whether you are a client or a cheerleader from the sidelines, your support has made my dreams of being a photographer a reality. There are not enough words to express my gratitude and excitement for all that is to come!
