Late Fall through early Spring is my favorite time of year to photograph dogs in urban locations! Here are a few reasons why…
Less foot traffic on the sidewalks, which means less distractions for your dog.
Cooler weather is more comfortable for dogs, especially for capturing portraits with their mouths closed.
True urban photography doesn’t include plants (which need to look alive if they’re going to be in photos. Lol!)
Locations that have heated sidewalks, mean it can snow all it wants, but it won’t effect the images, and we won’t have concerns about dogs walking through salty sidewalks.
My schedule is slower November - April, which means more flexibility to book a photoshoot, and have a faster turn around time for your retouched images!
Additional things to keep in mind when considering booking a photoshoot with me…
All dogs are photographed on leash! I have thin leads we can use during the photoshoot that make removing leashes and collars super easy for me to do in photoshop. This keeps the dogs safe, especially so close to roads, and allows us more communication to the dogs when capturing a variety of poses quickly!
Your dog doesn’t need formal training! This sweet lab is a barn dog, with basic training and the curiosity to watch or listen to me. The owner held her leash, I made a noise or threw the dog treats in the air, and Voila! You have the perfectly posed portrait!
I have a variety of urban locations I frequent throughout Michigan, but can always come to your home town if that is easiest or you have sentimental value to that location. Travel fees may apply.
Take a peek at the urban dog photos we were able to create with this beautiful Black Labrador Retriever in down town Muskegon, Michigan!
There is a parking lot that runs along the backside of several old buildings. Each building has it’s own texture and color, making it the perfect place to customize the background of your portraits!
