Lena has a very bubbly and energetic personality. She is always on the go! Her mare, Dreamer, is the opposite. She is quiet, calm, and would rather munch on her hay and soak up the sun then play at liberty or be worked under saddle. Somehow, together, they make a wonderful team.

I have had the opportunity to photograph Lena and Dreamer at White Oak Farm in Lowell, MI., several times, for publications, horse and rider shoots, and for Lena’s senior photos. It wasn’t until this photoshoot that I felt as though I truly captured their unbreakable bond. It’s easy to get caught up in feeling as though you have to stand or act a certain way in front of the camera, and there are times I give direction to help ease clients into moments they want captured, but the authentic moments come when you remove the mask you wear and allow me to capture your true self. Because Lena and I have worked together several times, she has come to know that she can be herself, to become vulnerable, and to be unafraid to laugh out loud while I photograph her beautiful heart. Pair this with the love she has for Dreamer and as a result, we were able to enjoy the afternoon and photograph some of the most beautiful moments we have ever photographed.
