As the world is ever changing, the things we love (and don’t love) the most come to light. This past year, in all it’s chaos, has shown me where my heart truly lies and where I want to spend more time focusing the business.
As the world slowed, and Canada announced the closing of it’s equestrian facilities, I cried in fear of what was going to happen here in the states. The following week, I failed to keep a positive mind and broke down on my husband when the states announced the closing of their barns. The fear of not having a business or an income was devastating, but the denial to be around the horses or animals was so suffocating, it made my mind numb. This is a moment in my life I don’t think I will ever forget.
Thankfully, the barn reopened two months later, and the day after they did, I was there, ring side, photographing lessons, my heart beating to the stride of the passing horse, breathing in the sweet smell of molasses covered grain and hay, happily getting fried by the sun, only to spend more time with my four legged friends.
This opened my eyes. Do I spend my time and energy doing something I like and that will pay the bills, or do I focus on what I LOVE and could spend a lifetime losing track of time because of the happiness it provides? This has been on my mind constantly for the past 3 months, and THANKS TO YOU WONDERFUL CLIENTS, you have supported my decisions to realign my business to focus on what brings me the most happiness!
SPECIALIZING IN EQUINE PHOTOGRAPHY
Starting in 2021 I will be focusing majority of my business to specialize as an equestrian photographer, offering more availability for a variety of creative portrait packages, candid connections between you and your horse, horses at liberty, under saddle for all disciplines, and as a private photographer for barns traveling to shows across the country!
THE DOGS
Besides horses, I have been wanting to dedicate more of my business for your beloved dogs, photographing them as individuals, the love they bring to your families, and the happiness they wag their tails to when competing or enjoying different sports and trained disciplines.
GRADUATING SENIORS
Photographing graduating seniors has always brought me joy. Being able to capture their individual personalities, the beauty they all process, and the exciting time of closing one chapter to begin the next exciting adventure of their lives, will always be a core part of my business!
INTIMATE COUPLES
And lastly, I would love to spend more time photographing intimate couples. Those celebrating engagements, anniversaries, or the current chapter of their love story will be welcome to book a session. Being able to spend time getting to know a couple, creating and capturing the breathe between moments, exactly how their heart feels their love, and turning those into works of art, is a satisfaction and achievement I don’t think I’ll ever be able to give up.
So here are the BIG CHANGES.
Starting in 2021…
// Small intimate families (2-8 members) will only be available upon request.
// Newborns or maternity sessions (unless you are a previous client and are including your horse or dog) will be referred to other local photographers who specialize in these moments of your life.
// Any off road photography will only be offered in the winter months (November - April), upon special request, or be referred to other local photographers who specialize in off road photography.
// I will be only be taking 2-3 more weddings for J.Klein Photos 2021 books, then only photographing future weddings upon special requests for previous clients. (I will be continuing to photograph a limited amount of 2021 weddings as a second photographer with Kailee Marie Photography.)
I have found this year, that my schedule has become limited for the sessions and opportunities I would rather not miss, and with the changes to focus on a few specialities, I hope to be able to accomplish those missed opportunities next year.
It is exciting to be able to further customize my business into a few specialities that bring me joy. It’s is a true testament for the business’s growth since reopening two years ago. Without YOU, and without your kind REFERRALS, I would not be able to chase my dreams as a photographer. THANK YOU for your continual support and your business. With these changes in place, I can not wait to meet the many new faces, create new friendships, and capture new memories as an artist with my past and future clients!
