One quiet summer evening, as I was checking J.Klein Photos social media pages (Facebook/Instagram), a profile picture from a gal who liked one of my images, immediately caught my eye. So of course (as we all are guilty of), I stalked her, clicking on her profile, and as I did, my jaw hit the floor. She was a proud owner of an incredibly stunning young Arabian horse with once in a lifetime markings.
I am 100% a sucker for myths and legends, and if you don’t know the legend of the Bloody Shoulder Arabian, look it up! This little mare, had a reverse bloody shoulder, a rare genetic twist that made her coat dark with a splatter of white that dripped down one side from her withers to her knee.
I KNEW I had to get her in front of my camera!
I reached out and was ecstatic when Whitney said she would love to book a session with her mare, named RA Taylor Swift! Appropriately, I listened to Taylor Swift on my drive across state to the barn and alllll the way home, I excitedly chattered on to my best friend about how stunning Taylor Swift was in person.
This is a photoshoot I will remember forever. A client and horse I will always look forward to photographing as her coat continues to change with age. And a lasting gratitude for Whitney in allowing me to come to her barn and photograph her beloved horse in artistic ways that highlighted her markings and true Arabian spirit.
