Lindsey reached out to me in early Spring, hoping to book a photoshoot while they were visiting family in Michigan. Her sister owns White Oak Farm, a barn I frequent in my photography travels. It worked out perfectly with my own traveling schedule, and on a sunny summer evening, we met to photograph her family as well as her three year old daughter, Rosi, with one of her favorite White Oak Farm horses, Carson.
Lindsey and Chelsea planned the details and prepared both little Rosi and Carson for the session perfectly! I arrived to see Carson dried from his afternoon bath, sporting his super shiny bridle. Chelsea was ready with a bucket of treats, and a slobber rag, ready to help handle the horse and get ears up for me. Little Rosi was all dolled up with her floral crown, ballet shoes, and an adorable floral dress that complimented Lindsey’s own dress.
We began photographing, and before Rosi could even pet Carson, she was ginning from ear to ear! Her face lit up with the most fulfilling happiness a little girl could have when she interacted with Carson. Carson, being a tall boy, was a tad intimidating, but it didn’t stop Rosi from wanting to sit on his back, hold his reins, or give him smooches.
Little Rosi could have spent ALL DAY loving on and riding Carson. She’s been bitten by the horse bug and will certainly have a life filled with special horses like Carson!!
**Of course, we made sure that Rosi’s safety came first. Carson was chosen for this session because he is incredibly gentle with the little ones and happy to stand quietly while she loved on him. Lindsey’s mom was always within reach when Rosi was on the ground, and Rosi was always held onto for additional support when she was on Carson’s back. **
