When your life and family revolves around your beloved horses and dogs, capturing their portraits, personality, and the love is a must! The Miller Family invited me out to their beautiful estate, to photograph their four dogs and their newest dressage horse, Ocean, in Plymouth, Michigan.
The weather wasn’t ideal, as a persistent mist hung in the air, but all the dogs had short coats, and with great training, we were able to make quick work to photographing them all individually AND together, before anyone got too wet. I had so much fun using the variety of color and textures found throughout their stunning gardens, and the architecture of their brick home and carriage house barn.
I prefer to photograph dog individually, to ensure that each dog feels comfortable expressing their unique personality, and has a positive experience. This gives me the chance to get to know the dog, hear their story, and understand how best to capture the dogs together, or with the members of the Miller Family.
