The collection of photos from Bentley’s winter session is still one of my favorites from this year. We were blessed with the perfect golden lighting, and more personality from Bentley then I could have asked for! Bentley was super easy going, eager to please, curious, goofy, and had a dashing smile he wasn’t afraid to flirt with!
Majority of my dog photography sessions begin with action shots, allowing the dog to burn off a bit of energy and settle into their comfort zone while I photograph them. A quick walk break to change locations, before asking Bentley for snuggles. More play time to follow, and by the end of the session, the dogs are usually settled enough to create some beautiful portraits. This also allows me time to seek out unique areas and the best natural light reflections for the final portraits.
Bentley’s final portraits ended up in a bramble of bushes. The soft golden light poured into a small opening through the branches, leaving a little hole the perfect size for Bentley to lay under. This of course meant I had to shimmy myself under the lower branches and contort around to capture the ideal angle. I asked Bentley’s owner to ever so quietly sweet talk Bentley to encourage him to look up at her. He oblique, and it made for the perfect photo.
