Mary and her pack of golden retrievers will always hold a special place in my heart. I met Mary 20 years ago when our family began training dogs for the disabled. Mary was a ray of sunshine, filled with a wealth of dog knowledge, quickly became good friends with our family. Through countless service dogs, show dogs, and personal pups, she has always been there with helpful guidance - and motherly encouragement when little Amelia got the best of me!
Mary has always had golden retrievers. She IS the golden retriever lady, always surrounded by a happy pack of wagging tails, soft gorgeous smiles. Within the past two decades I have had the honor of photographing these dogs, and while generations have come and gone, and new puppy piranhas brought home, I continually get the butterflies of excitement when I get to spend time with Mary and her pack.
This time was no different. She spiffed them up with bubbles and suds, trimmed their fly away ear hairs, and promised them lots of love if they cooperated! And they did magnificent! We focused on stacked and head shots, as well as group photos of Mary and her husband, Glenn.
BIG thanks to my husband who was roped in to help get ears up and mouths closed. The poor people in the local park must have thought he gone a bit bananas- a big guy jumping around tossing and squeaking dog toys behind bushes to get the golden’s attention. LOL! but it worked! And look how beautiful these images turned out!
