The Bonthuis family reached out to me with interest in having a family portrait taken of themselves with their horses and their dogs. Having photographed for them several times before, and knowing how much fun they are to work with, I said, “Why stop there? Let’s add in your rabbits, chickens, goats and cats!”
It’s a crazy idea, especially after we had a foot of snow dumped on us, but that is exactly what we did!
Trying to coordinate 15+ subjects to be photographed together seemed impossible, so my goal was to photograph each animal individually, and than create a composition of everyone together. And if you know me, you know I easily get distracted making friends with each animal, and in doing so, have to capture their personality through more images that wouldn’t be usable in the composition. This lead to a mini session of their foster foal as well, who may or may not become a permanent member of the family. 🤞
So I share with you today, the photographs of each member in Bonthuis Family, and at at the very bottom, the composition of everyone together that hangs in their home!
