Last Winter, I took my Welsh Pembroke Corgi to a rally class at Solid Gold Dog Training, in Grand Haven, Michigan. While the class was more of a challenge for me to learn the signs, then it was for my corgi to compete the courses forward, backward, and upside down, I did meet some wonderful people and their beloved rally dogs.
One of the dog owners was Sheryl, with her beautiful golden retriever, named Chugga. A big too short to be competitive in the conformation world, he landed in the loving pet home with Sheryl. Chugga is your typical golden retriever, constant smiles, tail wagging, willing to do whatever is needed or asked to please the people around him.
This Winter, I really wanted to find new urban locations close to my home in Muskegon, and level up my urban dog photography. I have always been drawn to nature’s colors, textures, and lines, that whenever I end up in an urban environment, I feel completely lost - as a human and a photographer.
I am always striving to better myself, and identifying and leaning into a weakness to turn it into a strength, is something I am passionate about. So I called Sheryl and Chugga, and planned a photoshoot where I could play in this new urban landscape, gain skills, and figure out the best ways to provide this photography service to new and current clients.
These were my favorite photographs from our session. What are you thoughts? Are urban photographs of your dog something you would enjoy?
