I have had the pleasure of photographing Miss. Isa several times over the past three years, and was delighted when she reached out to book her graduating senior photos with her three horses at Curtis Performance Horses in Jenison, MI.
It’s been a few months since I photographed a full horse & rider session, due to Winter weather and unfavorable footing. I have to admit, the tricky Spring lighting, the lack of color I wanted to make the landscape pop, and a mare that was tiring from our ear props, I felt as though I was floundering and not meeting my high expectations of this session. I could see what I wanted, but I couldn’t quite get there with confidence. I am incredibly thankful for Isa's patience, as well as the team of groomers and assistants, for allowing me to spend extra time seeking out the images I desperately wanted to capture.
After 2.5 hours of photographing Isa with each of her horses individually, together, and with multiple outfit changes, throughout the farm’s property, we wrapped up her session as the last light from the sunset was stretching long and far across the landscape. I came home, uploaded the images, and was thrilled with the collection of images we were able to capture! In my excitement, I couldn’t wait to share with you my favorites, a fraction of her full collection.
