It is always an honor to photographing clients year after year, as their relationships grow with their horses or as new horses come into their lives.
My last Horse & Rider Photoshoot with Elena, at Foxfield Arabians in Ada, Michigan, was to celebrate the chapters of her lives changing, as her older arabian horse Fred retired, and she welcomed in her next horse, Winter. (Click here to see that photoshoot!). This Fall, we celebrated her newest addition, Ruhlie, with goals of capturing their bond throughout the farm property with and without tack, their accomplishments in the show ring, ending with their relationship in action, under saddle.

The lighting that evening was a hot mess. The weather changed from being rainy and a dark overcast, to full sun, to defused lighting with thiner clouds, to golden hour that set behind the tree line. I greatly appreciated the flexibility of both Elena and Ruhlie, as we had to readjust our locations and poses to fit the ever changing lighting. It allowed me more freedom to create a larger gallery of images, and to still capture their list of memories they wanted photographed!
